Titanium Spring Materialsby Scott Pitney For many years titanium springs have been used by engineers that understand the strength, density, and modulus of titanium spring materials. Titanium spring materials are ideal in applications that require strength, weight-sensitivity, and space limitations. Aerospace engineers for example have relied on titanium spring material (mainly Beta-C) for low modulus elasticity and high strength. Motorcycle, automotive, and bike makers have avoided Beta-C material because of its high cost to produce. To be cost competitive and to achieve the benefits of Titanium spring materials, other low-cost titanium alternatives are being used as substantially less expensive titanium alternatives. These alternative titanium materials have low shear modulus (much less than Chrome Silicon) which further makes it ideal for commercial applications. Katy Spring can help in the selection of Titanium materials for your particular spring application. Please fill out the form on the right to request more information. |
